Embrace a warm welcome and subzero temps at Winterfest this weekend, Jan 18-20

Last year, Choose Pemberton got the skinny on the history of Winterfest. This year, as the event celebrates its 8th incarnation, we’ve got the Schedule of Events, (thanks to Tourism Pemberton), to launch you into the frozen fun.

Winterfest in Pemberton pays homage and respect to the mighty winter.

Dance Night, FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, 8pm: THE LEGION, $10

Come dance the night away at the Pemberton Legion on Friday night. D’ALE & the Coolers kick off the festivities beginning at 8PM. Tickets are available in advance or at the door of the Legion for only $10.

Fire + Warmth Show – SATURDAY, JANUARY 19, 5pm: One Mile Lake. FREE.

Dinner on-site at One Mile Lake beginning at 5pm. Ice skating with on-ice movies in the background. Following the movie, a DJ, fire spinners and fireworks at 8pm. Everyone welcome. FREE shuttle to & from One Mile Lake. Park at the Pemberton Community Centre parking lot. Departing at the bottom half of each hour from the Pemberton Community Centre.

Winter Festivus – SUNDAY, JANUARY 20, 11am – 4pm: One Mile Lake. FREE

Shinny Hockey

A shinny hockey game will be played from 12PM to 3PM. Sign up by 11:30 and you’ll be placed on a team. This event is FREE. Prizes will go to the winning teams.

Concession

The Pemberton Lions Club will be running a concession from 10AM – 4PM at the lake. Get you’re hands on some delicious chili or hotdogs, or combine them both for a great chili dog. Coffee, muffins and drinks will also be on hand. The concession is a cash only vendor.

Polar Bear Plunge

The marquee event of Winterfest is the daring Polar Bear Plunge. Are you brave enough to jump into the freezing cold lake? The event takes place at 12PM. Everyone who participates in the plunge recieves a toque & FREE hot chocolate.

Skating & Curling

The lake will be cleared off and flooded to accommodate skating and curling through the day. For those without skates, FREE rentals will be available in an assortment of sizes.

Snow Golf, Snow Soccer & Graffiti

All three activities will take place throughout the day as long as there’s willing participants. Supplies will be made available for everyone who takes part in the activities. Including FREE paint for snow graffiti.

Ice Fishing

The boys at Spud Valley Sporting Goods will be on hand to lead you in some ice fishing. All the supplies and equipment will be made available thanks to Spud Valley and their staff. This event is FREE to try out.
